Nephrite hilt, locket and chape carved and polished by lapidary means, engraved and inlaid with gold and set with gemstones in kundan technique; blade forged from jawhar steel, ground, polished and lightly etched (the ‘watered’ surface destroyed by ‘repolishing’ and heating, perhaps at the time of the making of the scabbard); scabbard wood overlaid with gold sheet and champlevé-enameled, fitted with jade locket and chape
