Modern Architecture Kuwait 1949-1989

From the late 1940s to the late 19802 Kuwait experienced an extraordinary social and civic transformation, deeply reflected in its urban environment. The complete demolition of the Old City center and the comprehensive redesign of the urban form, together with the creation of the new neighbourhood units, catalysed the attention of the major international designers working in synergy with local firms and authorities and leaving on the ground important examples of late Modern Architecture.

The Kuwait Excavations at Bahnasā/ Oxyrhynchus (1985-87): FINAL REPORT

Final Report of the archaeological exploration and excavations of the Islamic strata at the site of Bahnasa/Oxyrhyn- chus, a 5,000 year-old city 200 km south of Cairo, Egypt. These excavations were funded by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) and Dar al-Athar al-Isalmiyyah.

Folk Stories from the Northern Sudan

This is the 2nd book in the Kheir Jalees (Best Companion) series by GMCC. Written first from memory by Abdullah EL-Tahib that was later added to with more details, this is a translation of folk tales from Northern Sudan that used to be told to children by their grandmothers, aunts & big sisters. These stories were amusing during the dark and long evenings and also part of the rural and traditional system of education.

Beads from the rosary of History

This is the 3rd book in the Kheir Jalees (Best Companion) publications by GMCC. A summary of a time long gone, where the reader is enamoured with the glory of the arts of time and space. In addition to variations from the dawn of the Islamic era, followed by beads that connect to India in the east, Andalucía in the west, and a tight connection to the other: the beads of the rosary are varied, yet entwined.

Islamic Art in Arabic Sources
