1992 saw the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah transition from mourning and recovery to action. While that year’s calendar remained light, the foundation work was underway to ensure that 1993 and beyond would see the organisation back in full force.
Abroad, Islamic Art and Patronage: Treasures from Kuwait continued to travel in North America. After the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the exhibition moved to the St Louis Art Museum in St Louis, Missouri, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, Quebec, Canada and the New Orleans Museum of Art in Louisiana.
In Kuwait, the DAI did host an exhibition of Turkish calligraphy and an Islamic Bookbindings photography exhibition from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in February. The exhibitions attracted visitors eager to see the stellar works of art and celebrate the re-emergence of the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah.
